1763 FRENCH & INDIAN WAR SILVER TREATY MEDAL COLONIAL AMERICA BEAUTIFUL S290A

Description

Offered here is a beautiful silver medal issued in 1763 for the treaty that ended the French and Indian wars in North America. The color is a natural old silver that I am not able to capture. Just what it should be and not the gold tint you see. If you don't like it return it at my expense. Medal had been holed for wearing and now neatly plugged. It does not affect any detail.  A young George Washington led some of the British forces in the early going. He of course would later fight against the British for American independence. In Europe the war there was called the 7 years war. But here in America it was the French and Indian war which pitted the French and their Indian allies against the British. Britain prevailed and won control of North America as well as most of the Caribbean. Listed as Betts 446. A beautiful silver medal 44mm with the obverse showing Peace standing holding a scepter and a spear of wheat, legend above "Now She Dares Return." A landscape in the background with a man plowing a field. Exerge Germania Facata. The reverse has the building in Hubertusburg where the treaty was made. This medal is priced much lower than my other to account for the fact that like so many others it has been plugged to fill a hole made to use for wearing. Well done and does not detract much at all.
