    Description

    1787 NJ Maris 56-n, Rarity 1 New Jersey Coin Overstruck a Connecticut Copper.  Nice coin with tan and chestnut brown color and good surfaces weighing 111.7 grains .  There is a small rim bruise between 9:00 and 10:00 and a small planchet clip at 3:00 however, a nice example of the variety overstruck a Connecticut copper. The coin will be shipped with insurance and signature required.
    One of approximately 140 varieties all dated between 1786 and 1788.  This coinage was authorized and contracted out form Minting by the State of New Jersey to help fill the desperate need of small change shortly after the American Revolutionary War.
