    Description

1794 Talbot, Allum & Lee, one cent, with "NEW YORK" above the sails of the ship. The coin was issued by  the firm in New York City. They were importers and involved in business with the India Company. The edge is lettered and indicates "PAYABLE AT THE STORE". One side shows a woman holding a staff, topped with a hat, in her right hand, and standing beside a bale of some type of goods. Below her is the date, 1794. Around the border is the legend "LIBERTY & COMMERCE". The opposite side shows a large sailing ship in the center with "NEW YORK", just above the sails, and "TALBOT, ALLUM & LEE, ONE CENT", around the border. A couple of small marks in the fields on the side with the woman standing, and a couple of very light small scratches above the sails to the left side on the ship side of the coin. Primarily seen from the side with the standing woman, there a some some small edge nicks. Both sides are a medium to dark brown with nice surfaces.
