1794 Thomas Paine Token UNC MS-63
We have a nice, high grade Thomas Paine piece here. It is a halfpenny size, about 28mm and struck in copper. It comes graded as MS-63.  What look like scratches on reverse top are actually die polishing lines made at the mint. So they are "raised" lines. What makes this piece especially nice is that the centers are fully struck with no weak spots. This token has excellent brown color and surfaces. Choice piece!
I visited Smithsonian, NPG, recently and took this photo of Thomas Paine. This is a small painting, smaller than printing paper. No, you don't get this painting with the token; it is not a part of this sale. It is illustrated here for fun.
