1797 Draped Bust Half Dime- 15 Stars- Very Rare

Description

This is a very rare 1797 Bust Half Dime with 15 Stars. Liberty's bust is vaguely outlined, with her eye, nose and mouth faintly defined and a little of the hair detail can still be seen. Part of LIBERTY faintly shows at the top, 8 of the stars on the left clearly show (there is a worn area between 2 stars where the 9th star originally was) and all 6 stars on the right are visible. The 17 in the date are clear, the top of the 9 shows, and the top bar of the 7 can be seen. The reverse of this coin has been smoothed and I cannot make out any detail. A metal loop was soldered to the front of the coin and this was likely used at a button long ago. The coin is very slightly bent and has hairline scratches on both sides, but does not appear to have been cleaned.
