    Description

Interesting piece of Jewish history from the 19th century.
It took us months to figure this one out and randomly came across some information on the web.
We found this to be a RARE handmade Moroccan- Jewish Silver and Shell tobacco / snuff holder.
The piece has hand rolled silver over the top and bottom, with a beautiful embossed pattern.
We did not clean it, it is exactly as found.
There is loop on the top which I am guessing would be to hang from a chain around a man's neck.
We found out this piece was made by Moroccan Jewish people , some of which eventually settled in Israel and the U.S.
There is a reference to these tobacco holders in a book published by the Israeli Museum in Jerusalem, Israel, titled The Jews of Morocco.
The artifact measures: 3 3/4'' top to bottom X roughly 1 3/4'' wide.
    Toddah Rabbah.
