    Description

This is an antique Hebrew micrography piece of artwork on paper of Moses and the Ten Commandments . I am not sure though if it is a print or an original pen and ink. Please use your judgment.
I am uncertain as to exactly how old it is, but if it is original to the frame, it dates circa 1900s or 1910s.
    The overall frame measures 22 5/8 inches high x 18 5/8 inches wide (57.4 cm x 47.3 cm). The artwork measures 20 inches high x 16 inches wide (51 cm x 40.6 cm).
From what I understand, micrography (or micro calligraphy) is a form of a calligram, but is specific to Jewish Hebrew letters and words.
I believe the Hebrew writing here actually tells a story.
The artwork was held in with just a few nails, so I was able to photograph it by itself. I then put it back together and secured it with framing staples.
The artwork has a lot of damage to it. There is general foxing on it, with a long strip going down the right side. There are water stains along the bottom. There are wrinkles/tears in the lower right section on Moses’ arm. There are a few other spots like this scattered about. There is some general discoloration.
The visual itself is very clear though even given the damage.
It is signed in the bottom right corner though it is difficult to make out. Perhaps T. GaleMacher?
It is in a partially quartersawn oak frame. There are scattered dings and scuffs marks to the finish. It has chipping to the outer molding in the bottom left corner and some old breaks going along the very bottom. It is still very secure though.
It has what is probably its original glass.
I put it back together using framing staples.
It weighs a touch over 5 pounds (2.28 kg).
