    Description

Corgi Aviation Archive Series - Hawker Hurricane IIC - Defenders of Malta Limited Edition - No. 231 of 2110.
    No. AA35502 Vintage year - 2005, Scale - 1:32
Unit - AOC Malta, Air Vice Marshall K.R. Park - By establishing his 'Forward Interception Plan' Park virtually eliminated further Axis daylight bombing over the island. In Oct. 1942, the Axis tried one final effort to blitz the island into submission: it failed. 350 enemy aircraft were shot down that month. On becoming AOC in Malta in 1942, Park acquired 0K-2, believed to be coded Z3574.
Campaign - Luqa, Malta 1942 - this was one of the most bombed places on earth between June 1940 and Dec. 1942. The first Hurricanes arrived in 1940 but were inferior to the German Mess-109Fs and Gs. By the end of Jan. 1941, only 28 Hurricanes remained from the 340 that had been delivered since the German siege began. Later the Spitfire MK V started to arrive in sizeable numbers and May 1942 was a turning point in the war of Malta.
Markings - green and brown camouflage with 0K roundel 2 in white on mid fuselage with roundels on wings and RAF insignia on tail. Various other markings such as Malta flag under cockpit. Comes with documents, stand and attachable wheels. Comes with antenna cable between mid and rear of plane. No. 231 of 2110.
Model - Hawker Hurricane IIC - British fighter bomber intended to be a medium-high altitude interceptor to replace the Hawker Hurricane. It was the only RAF fighter in 1941 that could catch the Fw190 at low altitudes (where it did better than higher altitudes due to design issues). It became established in roles as night-time intrude and long-range fighter but became one of the most successful ground-attack aircraft with RP-3 rocks and four 20mm Hispano autocannons. The Mk IIC had a slightly modified wing (from Mk IIA) and a new and slightly longer propeller spinner and replaced the machine-gun armament with four 20mm cannons. A total of 4,711 were built between Feb. 1941 and July 1944.
Condition - new with minor shelf wear on box - wear on one box corner.
    Will combine ship.
