"Trefoil" means three leaves. Each leaf in the traditional or contemporary Girl Scout trefoil stands for a part of the Girl Scout Promise – 1) to serve God and my country, 2) to help people at all times, and 3) to live by the Girl Scout Law.
Traditional Girl Scout Trefoil: Inside the Traditional Girl Scout trefoil is the American eagle and shield, which are part of the Great Seal of the United States of America. The eagle is a symbol of strength and victory, and the shield on the eagle's breast signifies self-reliance. In his talons, he clutches on his right an olive branch, the symbol of peace, and on his left, a shaft of arrows, the symbol of might. The eagle faces right, which is the position of honor, looking toward the symbol of peace. The eagle and shield inside the trefoil signify that Girl Scouts stand ready to serve their country.

Charles Robbins, a prominent jeweler in Attleboro, MA, established The Robbins Company in 1892. The company grew to become a dynamic force in the jewelry manufacturing business. Earning a unique place in history as a manufacturer of military badges, Olympic medals, Boy & Girl Scout and NASA medallions to name a few.  One artist who had many of his medals struck at Robbins was Julio Kilényi.
Type 5 pin: 1940 - 1980,
Typical Features: 4 Stars, 7 Arrows, 5 Bars, Graduated Flat Tail, Shield has Side & Top borders Only, Bent Legs, 11 Outer Feathers.
Availability: Somewhat rare. Actively sought after.
This auction is for a vintage Girl Scouts of America "Traditional" Trefoil membership pin made by the Robbins Co.
This collection belonged to a life-long Scouter who passed away in 2000. He earned his Eagle award about the age of 17, which would make it around 1959 (ish). He spent his life devoted to Scouting serving as Scoutmaster and at Boy Scout summer camps for over 15 years in positions from counselor to eventually camp director.
He was a ten year member and Vice President of the local Volunteer Fire Co., ten year member of the area Hazardous Materials Response Team and the town Tax Payers Association and was an Eagle Scout with Gold & Silver Palms, one of the highest ranks in Scouting.
A bronze palm represents five additional merit badges, a gold palm 10, and a silver palm 15. 1 gold palm and 1 silver palm = 46 total merit badges (21 required + 25 additional)
I cannot divulge his identity because I don't have the family's permission, nor sufficient background information on him.
Condition: This handsome pin is in excellent condition for being around nearly 50 years old. Note: Due to quantity available, the item you receive may be similar but not be the exact item pictured.

RETURNS / REFUND POLICY
No returns allowed unless item is not as described, unless otherwise specified. I  will accept returns with a valid reason. (This doesn't include change of mind!) Item must be returned in original condition (within 7 days of receipt), un-damaged.  Buyer to pay return postage. (Recorded Advisable) Refund will not include postage paid to deliver the item.
