Ahdut Ha'avoda-Poalei Zion rejected participation in the London talks.
On September 1, the party strongly protested the Agency's willingness to negotiate with the British government as long as the deportees were deported, and members of the Jewish Agency Executive were under arrest.
It then sent a claim to the presidency of the Zionist General Council not to participate in the London talks and to immediately convene the Executive Committee to discuss the behavior of restraint.
The 22nd Zionist Congress in Basel Between August and December 1946, it became clear that the partition plan, which had recently been adopted by the Jewish Agency, was far from being implemented.
The Arab Higher Committee rejected any possibility of compromise and the British government refused to discuss the partition plan. The plans of the British regarding the Land of Israel were not yet clear, but both the official position of the government and the overt signs indicated that the end of the British administration was not close.
Although the Americans welcomed the Partition Plan and President Truman announced on the eve of Yom Kippur an important pro-Zionist declaration, the administration in Washington was not inclined to intervene directly in the affairs of the Land of Israel.
This situation caused considerable radicalization in the Zionist camp. The results of the elections to the Congress led to an extreme and uncompromising Zionist representation.
