1941 FIRST CLASS PIN,
Highest Award in 1963
In 1963, "First Class" became the Highest Award a Girl Scout could earn.  The rank had been in place for many
years (1941), but it was a stepping stone to other awards including the Curved Bar.  With the discontinuation of the Curved Bar in
1963, First Class became the highest EARNED AWARD available to Girl Scouts
.  This was true until the introduction of the Gold Award in
1980 when First Class was completely retired after 60 years.
This little pin is not quite 1/2 inch x 1/2 inch and is in Very Good Unused Condition. This one still is still
shiny
front and back, but you can see the card is discolored.  The white dots and lines on the green enamel you see are intentional in manufacturing.  Most pins have these distinctive marks.
It is also important to note that
in 1997 GSUSA made a reproduction of this pin.
On the back of those pins, it clearly says, "REPRO."
This pin is original and from the 1940s - the 1970s
