    Description

Old Jewish Velvet Mantle Cover for Torah Book Rollers 1980s Israeli Synagogue
This is an old mantle (cover) for a big roller Torah book (only mantle, no book or rollers) probably from an Israeli synagogue circa the 1980's, made from beige-golden velvet fabric with a silk inner lining (separated to prevent shatnez) and adorned with fringes, on the front an impressive machine embroidery of silver and gold plated threads, embedded with stones and sequins, with the Jewish symbols of Judia lions, tablets of stones, a Torah crown and flowers vase.
Approx 74 cm long without the fringes.
In overall rather good condition, some threads are loose on the lions and tablets decorations, the top canopy cardboard is broken and hangs loose, a bit worn around the roller holes.
