    Description

    the coalesced kitties
i can find no issues with the artwork or frame. the only thing i can find to even point out is that on the reverse, there are a couple of very subtle scuffs and one round spot under another round sticker that i am surmising was where another sticker once was. see second image. it is ready to hang.
a neat pen and ink original relief by artist jeanne nash (my guesses on her below). her style is a bit of an homage to the famous cat artist théophile-alexandre steinlen (more on him below). there is a lot going on in a set of coalesced scene of cats. the painting has alot of movement and balance. it is really nice to find original art featuring, with such a professional sensibility, cats. the frame is genuine metal (brass) and does add some warmth to the otherwise monochrome ink piece. i believe that this is a vintage piece as i have known us to have this for quite some time. there is an original signature by the artist in the lower left-hand corner: «jeanne nash».
the painting comes in a lovely triple mat that suits it very well. the outermost matte is white, which doesn't overwhelm the monotone artwork. it is signed in pen in the lower left «jeanne nash». the innermost plane, the artwork itself not including the base matte is 7 7/8" wide and 9 7/8" tall. the outer most dimensions (the outside of the from is 13 1/2" wide x 15 1/4" tall. the frame is 3/4" thick. the frame is genuine metal (brass) and does add some warmth to the otherwise monochrome ink piece.
besides the original ink signature on the front, the reverse has the following information
circular sticker: original relief pen & ink
    stamp
    original graphic art
    jeanne h nash
    2913 grant quarters circle

    about the artist
it has been difficult to find information about her. the reverse of the painting has an address of marietta georgia. however, i was able to find a cat painting in a similar style attributed to a florida artist with the name «jeanne nash», where there was a «jeanne nash studio». one does not preclude the other, i know, but that is the sum total of the information i have been able to find out about her.
about théophile-alexandre steinlen and his cats
    (from: artnet.com/artists/théophile-alexandre-steinlen/)
théophile alexandre steinlen was a french-swiss artist best known for his art nouveau poster designs and paintings. steilen often depicted animals, specifically cats, as well as the bohemian cabaret culture of turn-of-the-century paris. cats appealed to steinlen for their charm, movement, and character, as well as for their symbolic properties. born on november 10, 1859 in lausanne, switzerland, steinlen studied design at the university of lausanne, before moving to paris.
amidst the artistic avant-garde in montmarte, it was at the notorious le chat noir club, that steinlen met artists like henri de toulouse-lautrec, louis anquetin, adolphe willette, and félix vallotton. he produced advertisements for the le chat noir, and found artistic recognition through frequent exhibitions at the salon des indépendants. the artist died on december 13, 1923 in paris, france. today, his works are in the collections of the hermitage museum in st. petersburg, the musée d'o'rsay in paris, the museum of modern art in new york, and the national gallery of art in washington, d.c.

shipping costs have really increased—this is calculated into the buy-it-now price.
i am not able to sell individual items from items i have listed as a group. i just don't have the stamina to create new listings for those. i apologize for that. i haven't initially individually listed items because i don't have enough listing slots to so.
trying to downsize some, though extremely melancholically.
shipping time: i otherwise work more than full time and my health isn't great, so kindly excuse the longer handling time. if i am able to ship sooner, i absolutely will do that
. i appreciate you taking the time to view my listing.
