"TRI-COLOR" FRIENDSHIP PIN
1944, Early "Non-Earned" Pin
This is a very early Friendship Pin, so called because there were no requirements to own one.  It was intended to “swap” with a Girl Scout or Girl Guide from another country.  “Swapping” has evolved to a fairly common practice in Girl Scouting today.  You can see in the fifth picture that this pin is considered a first!  The 1944 catalog describes it as enamel on steel, and YES THIS PIECE IS MAGNETIC!  That certainly helps to confirm the date as a WWII piece.   It is over SEVENTY-FIVE YEARS OLD, and the only flaw I see is a few tiny pieces of blue paint missing on the left.  (
NOTE:
I am having serious camera/computer problems, thus the pictures do not do this beautiful pin justice.  I guarantee your satisfaction on this.  The ONLY FLAW visible to the eye is the tiny bit of missing paint on the bottom left side.  The shading on the gold is very minor!)  T
