Whole House Spin Down Pre-Filter (RA-PRF-2) is installed generally right after the water meter to remove sediment, rust, sand and other Impurities from tap and well water. This filter is the first line of defense to your appliances (water heaters, water filters, washing machine, and bathing facilities) because it blocks harmful particles before they reach the rest of your plumbing system.
First Stage: Melt-blown Polypropylene Sediment Filter
The sediment filter is often the first filter installed in the Reverse Osmosis circuit. Sediment filters are produced from fine melted polypropylene, which is then blown and spun into a sort of cylindrical form. The primary operation of a sediment filter is to remove large, unwanted fine particles from drinking water, such as sand, dirt, silt, and rust particles. Removal of such particles allows Carbon Block and GAC filters to work normally and performance much better.
Lifetime:
Replace two or three times a year depending on water quality.

Stainless Steel Mesh
The long-lasting SUS316 stainless steel mesh and the drain valve provide for easy cleaning and continued use of your filter. When the cartridge begins to get backed up by the sediment, simply open the drain valve to flush out the system, removing any impurities.

Fitting Size
The Spin Down Pre-Filter comes with 1 inch inlet and outlet fittings to ensure simple and easy installation. However, you are also provided with two adapters for these fitting if you should so require. The adapters are for both sides and reduce the size to 3/4 inch diameter.
System Flushing
Flushing out the system enables it to clean itself and then continue its' filtration. This process is as easy as one, two, three. All you have to do is open the valve on the bottom of the system to allow the water to flush out the filter cartridge of any built-up sediment and particle impurities. Once having done so, you simple close the valve and the water resumes flowing to the rest of your house.

Such maintenance should be performed regularly (daily or weekly), depending on the water usage, sediment amount and the hardness level. When the stainless steel mesh starts to clog and simple flushing is not enough, the steel cartridge should be removed and clean with a brush.
