Description
This is a project that was started by a guy in Canada a few years ago. I got the bass a short time ago in pieces and bought additional parts, assembled everything and wired it from scratch.I also covered the existing pickguard in a leather "like" material to sort of mimic the original, although it is not exact.
The guy who started this project had the body finished in a cream color to match Squire's Rickenbacker bass. He also relic'd the finish. The bass has never been played, he just liked the "used" look I guess. I thought about refinishing it to match the original bass but since I couldn't match the pickguard exactly I left it alone since every leather pickguard maker I contacted wanted no part of making me a guard. I honestly don't blame them. lol.
In case anyone is wondering the bass weighs a lot. 16 pounds and some change. You'll need a really wide strap with a nice pad and you better hit the gym to build up your core if you want to use it on stage! lol.
Please check out the video to see how the electronics are setup. I tried to make them as simple and effective as possible. I had no idea how the original bass was wired. A friend of mine works for Steve Howe and I tried to contact him to see if he could find out how Squire's bass was wired but he must be on the road and I couldn't get ahold of him.
Case included as shown. It is a NEW Gator keyboard case. It is NOT ATA approved but it will protect the bass in shipping and to gigs. It is more rigid and padded than a gig bag but it is not an actual hard case. It also has wheels to make transporting it a little easier.
The bass will be setup and ready to play when you receive it. In the video I say it still needs setup but that video was done the same day the electronics were finished and the setup had not been completed. The bass is now ready to go!
NOTE, not shown in the photos are 2 chrome Jazz bass pickup covers as used on the original WAL bass by Chris Squire back in the 70's. If the buyer wants them put on I will install them free of charge. If not, forget I even mentioned it. lol.
