  • Condition: Vintage original pictures sketched on stiff paper with charcoal and pastel chalks. The charcoal is rather faint on two of the pictures. There is some smudging of the chalks, and yellowing, creasing, wrinkling of the paper. Two have torn corners not visible behind the frame. One has a small stain at the edge, also not visible behind the frame. And two were trimmed down to fit the frames, not particularly neatly, but again, this is hidden by the frames. Two were originally signed. “Cat Walking” was signed “by Sharon Coxford” but most of the signature was trimmed off, only “by S” remains. “Cat Sleeping” was signed “Shari Coxford” and I believe that the signature is intact behind the matting, but I am not 100% certain. Photos serve as part of description. The frames are of different colors and styles, and have wear commensurate with their age. This is quite noticeable on the back of each picture.

    Description

    Three vintage original cat sketches from the early 1970s of a long-haired, green-eyed, gray tabby cat named Candy. Framed pictures dated somewhere between 1971 and 1973, drawn with charcoal and chalk-like pastels, as drawn when I was a teenager. All three have wood frames. Two say “Candy” on the picture.
    * Cat sleeping, matted and framed, 13.75” x 16.5”
    * Cat walking, framed, 10.5” x 12.5”
    * Cat drinking from a pond, framed, 10.25” x 12.25”
    Originally two of these were signed. “Cat Walking” has “by S” in the lower right corner, which is all that remains visible of the signature. The original sketch was cut down to fit the frame, so most of the signature was cut off. “Cat sleeping” might still have a full signature hidden behind the matting as I don’t think that picture was trimmed down, I honestly do not recall.
    The two smaller pictures have wallhanging hooks on the back at the top, and one has a fold out tab to sit the picture on a desk.
    The big picture has a wallhanging hook on the side, but it cannot be hung with that hook because the picture isn’t turned that way. You either need to add a hook to the top, or string a wire from the staples.
    “Cat Walking” was sketched from a photograph taken in 1972.
