Vintage 1947-1963 Girl Scout Trefoil "R" Pin blue enamel on gold plate or brass

This is a vintage (1947-1963) Girl Scout trefoil pin.
It may be gold plated and has blue enamel for a background.
This pin is marked with an “R” on the back.
It has a simple straight pin back that catches in a hook.
This pin belonged to my mother who grew up in the Los Angeles area of California.
It is most likely the pin dates from the late 1940s or very early 1950s as my mother was born in 1938.
