    Description

here is a vintage brown officer's brocade belt with magnetic brass metal snap. the top insignia on snap is of a pair of raised crossed handguns with black poly chrome paint surrounding the insignia. the back magnetic piece has a small "ANCHOR" stamped into the metal. there are 2 adjustable brass clips on sides of belt that have the #2 stamped into metal clips. belt unsnapped and laid out measures about 32" long and is made of a flexible stretch material. the brown belt has criss crossed 2 tone shades of brown, one dark and one more closer to tan. this belt was found wrapped around a antique 1910 corona #3 typewriter case. I have no idea what period it dates from or what the insignia is for? my guess is circa 1940-1960, as these types of metal magnetic belts were made and used in the 1960's for sure. not sure how much earlier. any information on this item WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED, for my own knowledge. I have researched this piece for a few hours and have come up stumped. magnetic snap works excellent, some very minimal pitting spots to brass metal, thick heavy black paint on insignia and crossed handguns are raised relief and look great. thanks for looking.
