Painted Style, Hook Catch
The World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) was established in 1948.
All Girl Scouts and All Girl Guides all over the world wear the pin with this symbol
(although it was updated in the 1990s.)
This particular style is Girl Scout catalog number 9-685.  These have a sturdy J-hook catch that attests to its age.  The Old Logo on the card confirms it was issued before the logo change in 1980.  This pin was first available in this
PAINTED style in 1955
.   These pins are more plentiful than the later issued - enamel type - but most of these early pins have chips in the background blue paint.
These pins that are offered have no chips in the background, and thus are in Excellent, New Condition on the original card
.  I guarantee that the number on this card is the same as is in the Girl Scout Catalogs.  Look in my store for other variations of this pin. There are many different catalog numbers, different card colors, and different catches, but until the 1990s, the design stayed the same.  If you are a collector and interested in the variations, send me an email and I'll try to answer your questions.  These pins would be great for a Thinking Day Gift showing your girls how this logo and the current style differ. Please excuse my watermarks.  Other sellers are infringing on my pictures and wordage.
