Description

WOOD WIZARD SANDMASTER SCULPTURE BY RICK CAIN, 1986, 7" Tall x 5" Wide. Ltd. Ed. #3805, and signed by Cain on the back plate. Comes with Cain's descriptive brochure card "Wood Story", which describes the Sandmaster story.
Cain developed an unusual technique, carving driftwood pieces on one side only, giving them the sculptural look he wanted-- but leaving the other side untouched, so that when viewed from that side, the piece just looks like a piece of driftwood.

Cain then made multiple copies of the original in a faux wood resin, signed and numbered them and sold them in limited editions.
We purchased this figure in the early 1990s and stored it in our warehouse since. The piece, stored in our darkened warehouse for over 35 years, is still in virtually MINT condition, with completely UN-faded colors.
